Chat Français

Art Bleek: French house music guy

He has some dope house/techno/nu jazz music out there

I'm currently swimming in this track: Future Memory (Sei A Perspective) remix

Here's the original: Art Bleek - Future Memory

it's heavy and Housy and catchy. Any song with accented vocals is sure to tickle you behind the ear. besides the dope vocals there's some good piano and heavy Bassssss.
it's a good 'walking in the dark' song or a good " walking down a crowded street on a rainy day whilst wearing really dark sunglasses" can you dig it?
so download it

Here's his Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/artbleek

he's even got a house remix of Beat it.
here's a link to an interesting bio on this french cat or should i say chat français

I WANT YOU TO GET MAD!

First you've got to get mad, you gotta say "I'm a human being Goddammit MY LIFE HAS VALUE!!!"

This is an excerpt from the 1976 movie " Network" I haven't seen the movie yet so i wont write anything about all i can say is it looks pretty radical:

Here's where you can watch the whole 2hr movie.. for freeeee : http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=216105531921215883&ei=9gleSoiTIqiErAKK5rQt&q=network%2C+1976&hl=en&dur=3

I downloaded this track the other day that incorporates the famous Network speech into it. It's at the beginning with some piano in the background. the song is pretty dope, although the later part of the song ( after the speech) can be so much better, with more bass and what not.. because i mean the speech is so intense and fills you with energy and bravado that your expecting your speakers top explode as soon as the last syllable of that speech drops.. unfortunately it isn't an intense as one would hope, nevertheless it's still a good song.

Get Mad - Herbdout

for some more intense energy infused tracks and mixes here's a link you should check out Dollop and Dlex these guys put out podcast on itunes every now and then. it's a hit or miss with these fellows but this weeks podcast is pretty dope, scratch that very dope... it's got me wiggling my mane as we speak. Trumpets and umpa lumpa's and surprisingly agile heavy bass ( cause fat people can't run) and MIA and House, not just any house but a seaside cliff house with drugs and dancing ( if you can't grasp the analogy or visualize the metaphor well shit man i guess your just not an urban achiever),.. ohhhh yaaaaa if that doesn't define a good summer mix i don't know what does.

Know any good Slave songs?

I ask my co-workers "know any good slave songs?" they don't.
Lucky i do.
I like to sing this as I'm shoveling crap out of the junk truck at work (1-800-got junk?)
it's therapeutic and makes work (especially shoveling) go by a lot quicker.. i suppose that's what the old slaves created the song for.

kudos to Bryan Sentes, English teacher at Dawson College for introducing me to this warm and painfully delicious, or deliciously painful track

Go Down Old Hannah - Texas Prison song

here's a video that is merely a shadow of the original:

On a side note i created a great white slaver name/character while i was at work singing Old Hannah (ironic and wrong i know but hilarious) "Wilkinson Louisiana the Third" proud owner of 50 Negros, half a dozen Apache and a regular at madam Monique's New Orleans brothel. He has a southern accent and a big fat belly and kinda looks like the colonel from KFC. "you goan pick that cotton ya hear? afterwads i gona get you a nice cold glass of my wife's lemon aid, yes sir and ya can take a break down by the old river" See he's a nice slaver.
