Ukrainian Circus bears and froggy behaviour

Listen while you read ja!?

I said this to a friend today while enjoying a pint at the Concordia university bar this evening:
"Barney Stinson would give you a high five but Ted Mosbey would not approve, although we're in our 20's .. we're all Stinsons.. will get to Ted in our 30's...so high five"

it made too much sense. honestly. for those un-enlightened souls out their who haven't check out that amazing TV show called 'How i met your mother" you should check it out.
you would get exactly what I'm saying.
My birthday is on Saturday, i'll be turning 21
and in many ways I'll be getting old, but in my opinion i''m still young in too many ways.
as young, hormone induced youths we should indulge in our inner Stinson.
maybe he's got it right all alone. Because who wants to be shackled down like a Ukrainian circus bear to a partner who you'll eventually leave or get dumped by?
enjoy the carnal pleasure of the opposite ( or same wtv gives you a chubby) sex.

I have a friend who as we speak is on a date with a very pretty lady. little does he know this pretty little lady has an appetite for said carnal pleasure like a ferret in heat. my friend, lets call him the romantic, is probably trying to woo her into his own Ukrainian circus. This Pretty little lady is trying to use the same shackles, not to bound him to her circus, but to her bed. lucky for him? i sure would think so.
although my friends title as the romantic will not soon escape him for an evening of passion and pleasure. he's searching in vain for his own circus bear. a noble cause in another metaphor but in this one it just wont fit.

if you play your cards right tonight then your definitely getting laid buddy. unfortunately you'll be searching for more than bacon and eggs the morning after.
This pretty lady's fridge is stock piled with bacon and eggs.. but nothing more.

I would die for some of her Bacon and eggs.
I have an affinity for pretty little ladies

just Black eyed peas that shit and have a good night.
fuck ya? fuck ya!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMxASjxRk1w

this should play in your head all the time until you turn 30.. is what i would have said until i met the most amazing 39+ year old in the world. you know who you are you tall oceanic warden of the beautiful, well traveled Swans.
So this song should always play in your head.. forever!
i want to see more 70 year olds at raves
getting lucky and having the time of thier 70 year lives.
if i see another 20 year old couple geting married i will back hand them power ranger style.
you feeling froggy? then jump!
for serious thought.. just stop getting married and enjoy life un hindered and un shackled..
but what do i know .. this is just my opinion .. my supremely enlightened opinion that is respected by people 2-3 times my age.. people who tell me i am more emotionally mature then most people they have met. people in their 40's and 50's who stop and listen to what i have to say about the world and it's contents. so before you brush me off as some frustrated youth.. take a second to let what i spit soak in.
it wont easily rub out.

He is still Carlyel Williams, hear him roar!

Carlyle Williams
remember this impressive man
I have found his place of creativity, his lair of love, his cave of concoctions
3 years later, substantial words were exchanged between him and i with an invitation to drink, un hindered, by this fountain of knowledge.
The story begins

a Photo shoot was planned between myself and this girl.. Photogenic bliss yes that's me on her cover page, and yes my eyes do look like a stoned Asian on a bright summers day..

she had planned a ....."grudge" style photo shoot in the old Montreal
that was rather far from where our original meeting location was, Loyola campus.
i immediately came up with the idea of venturing on a rooftop i frequuent, i use this rooftop for drinking and conversational use by myself and a good friend of mine only for therapeutic social purposes of course.
A rooftop! what a great place to have a photo shoot especially with a theme of GRUNGE !
we walked over and proceeded to climb up the fire escape.
of course it was a little less than legal but the rush is priceless

as soon as i got half way up i heard the familiar wailing's of an artist i had met many years ago
could it be?
Carlyle Williams!
it was him who was singing/yelling.
as soon as i got to his floor i saw him! big bellied black man with beard and tuq
i pointed to him and yelled
"CARlyle WILLIAMSSSSS"
he, sitting on a chair with arms behind back, almost expecting me, laughed!
"remember me? we met 3 years ago at that bar Foufouns electric we spoke of love and life!?"
"ah oui je souvien, tu parle francias oui? come inside"
he was speaking french to me.. why? lets roll with it.
he invited me inside, i crawled through the open window excited like a young boy who has found a box of fire crackers.
he showed me his art which was a combination of papier mache and sculptures, later my awkward photographer, standing in the window frame, clueless, and looking rather terrified of this hairy black behemoth said " his art is so sexual!"
of course it is you silly women! he is Carlyle Williams!
anyway as i am an empathetic bastard i quickly ended our re-acquaintance with a promise of seeing him soon.
i will keep that promise and i will come back with friends who have open ears for the knowledge BELLOWED out from this entity
as i finished the shoot, walked back down the fire escape and walked away Carlyel Williams pooped his head out of the window and let out a yell/roar louder then i have heard a man yell.. we turned back to see what was all the fuss! he looked at me from the third floor of his loft, yelling and fanning his arms out as if to salute an Egyptian god, maybe i was that Egyptian god?, taken off guard all i could yell back was " take care Carlyel, keep your mangoes fresh" with a diminutive and awkward thumb up salute.
He still would wrap his knuckles to mine after every sentence he would melodically and poetically produce, he still laughs like a lion, he still sings and produces art
He is still Carlyel Williams, hear him roar!

Burning man

The Burning man Festival:
Once a year, during the first week of September, 40-50 thousand people gather in Nevada's Black Rock Desert (also known as "the playa") to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, pyrotechnics, music and self-reliance. They depart one week later, having left no trace whatsoever.
On the 6th day we burn a 30 meter wooden statue of a Man.

Before i arrived at burning man i was dedicated to writing an article explaining burning man to those less fortune souls who haven't attended, although within the first 6 hours of arriving i realized that it was impossible. Trying to explain burning man to someone is like trying to explain the color blue to a blind person.

I could tell you what i experienced at burning man, what i learned, who i met and the things i saw but i cannot explain the magic found in this city. The magic that finds it's way into your heart and soul like the deserts dust finds it's way into everything you own.
What i will write about is the things i learned, and there are many. Burning man has a peculiar way of changing someone, or at least changing certain views they have.

A big part of this festival is the Gift economy. Everyone at burning man gives without expecting anything in return, they only expect the silent promise that somewhere down the line you will give/help another person/stranger/friend. therefore you can't spend money at this event, the only things you can buy are found at Center camp; coffee and ice. I was walking down the street one day wearing my signature yellow sunglasses and a man stopped me and told me that he fond my shades to be quite loud indeed. He said he had somethign that would make them louder, his neon colored shirt. He took his shirt off and gave it to me. no questions asked, i thanked him with a hug and he went on his merry way. Giving feels great. Since Burning man i find myself being much more generous and it feels amazing. To give without expecting anything in return is a beautiful act that should more present in our western society. Unfortunate because it was my first time at this wonderful event i did not have much to give. All i had in my pouch of wonders was advice, hugs, good conversation and compliments, which i certainly used as much as possible.

Like any other festival Burning man has copious amounts of mind altering substances. What happens to your brain and body when exposed to 107 degree heat, moisture wicking off your body and dehydrating you within minutes. The mind-altering experience of Burning Man is its own drug. Now I'm not one to look down my nose at drugs but there are/were a couple that i had preconceived notions off and therefore decided i would never try. i stayed in a theme camp of 30+ individuals, all of whom were very interesting and who i have forged strong relationships with. . Like good open minded individuals 95% of them consumed drugs and alcohol. At least 50 % dropped acid and/or pills a couple times during the festival. At first this might sound terrifying but i quickly realized that drugs aren't the evil dooers there made out to be but rather the real bad boy is excess. In the end there are so many things out there in this wide world that are bad for you why would you section of a couple that have the potential of making you feel great and/or let you experience the world in a whole new way. Everything in moderation. A glass of milk is good for you and tastes great but 15 of those mutha fuckers will give you a hell of a time. what i'm saying is don't say no to something that might seem dangerous on the outside but can be quite a bit of fun. just make sure your taking it in moderation. 1 pill of ecstasy feels greattttt but 15 of those mutha fuckers will kill you, same with aspirin.

As i met and became friends with the 30+ individuals that were staying in my camp i realized that people are interesting. People have life stories to tell and learn from. people can be beautiful beings and as a 15 year burning man veteran told me " every individual is a work of art" I met some amazing people, from the 39 year old writer who helped out with the Titanic movie and lives in L.A and has lived all over the planet from England, Montreal, New Zealand and the Salomon islands to name but a few. The 21 year old flower child from Long island who was moving to Glasgow to peruse her studies in Photography. the 51 year old biker who drew many of the animations for the old Disney movies. The 28 year American ex Realtor who moved to the British Virgin islands once the housing debacle started and is now living the life as a yacht salesman/ nightclub Dj. The self proclaimed nerdy Asian boy from orange county who studies in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Material Science Engineering at UC Irvine and who supplied the entire camp with some of the purest Ecstasy this side of the Atlantic.
I could go on for pages.
all this to say if you stop and talk to someone, not at some seedy nightclub, you'll more then likely find that this person is very interesting and this person might be someone you would befriend. so take the time to get to know people, you never know who your going to meet.

The last story i would like to share with you is very dear to my heart.
One night, the flower child, her friend (who had the biggest and brightest smile i have ever seen) the writer and myself all went to the Opulant temple. The opulant temple is a rave scene with the best lineup of dj's in the world every single day. The dj booth is a head. The dj's spin in the mouth, the eyes and head are beams of fire that shoot out. The dance floor is surrounded by columns of flame that periodically erupt and in the back there are 3 platforms about 10 feet up that you can dance on.
That night was the first time i experienced Ecstasy, the drug, supplied by none other then the Nerdy asain boy from Orange county. we all had some. yum! I started dancing with these 3 amazing people and after about 40 minutes i realized that i was NOT enjoying myself.. i was feeling down and sick and i was reconsidering ever taking drugs again.
then i sat down

and i started to feel slightly better

The writer came and sat down next to me and got real close. He asked me how i was doing. i told him i was not doing well but i'm feeling better now that i'm seated. He put his arm around me and gestured expansively at the scene in front of us. remeber now i'm sitting down at a rave of thousands of people who are dressed ridicoulosy if they are dressed at all, fire spewing from all around us and from the dj booth with some of the best rave music to be heard. the Writer said " you see all this fire and art and sculptures? aren't they beautiful and majestic, imagine the time it took to make all this... i replied "ya ya i guess"

He said " and the music! isn't it the best music and dj'ing you have ever heard!?" Armin Van buren, voted the best dj in the world was currently in motion. i said " ya i guess your right buddy"

then he said " and you see these beautiful people dancing and enjoying life and enjoying this music, isn't it wonderful!, aren't they beautiful!" i said " your absolutely right"
then
he put his hand on my shoulder looked me deep in the eyes he came in close and said " see all this, .... this is all here fore you, it's all here for you"

and from then on i had the most amazing night of my life.

when your having a bad day just look around and realized that its all here for you. if your not having a good time then it's your fault because everything is here for you to have a good time so enjoy it.

The Burning man festival was the best time of my life. I have come away from it with so many priceless memories. For most people, such as myself, the burning man festival is a life changing event. I implore everyone out there who has or wishes to have an open mind and a great experience to attend this event.

obscureities from the 80's and 95

so this song always lifts my spirits.
Precious little diamond by a Fox the fox

Fox the fox - Precious little diamond (download here)

Their short life span is not note worthy but here is a short description of this band.
Fox the fox is a Dutch funkband, formed in 1981 by Bert Tamaela and Sylhoutte Musmin. While Tamaela was the band's singer, Musmin wrote his lyrics and Tamaela the music. In 1984 their only hitsong was 'Precious Little Diamond'. After 2 albums the band quits in 1990.

another band from the 80's
scotch - delirio mind

dosen't the lead singer look like Vince Vaughn!?
take me up - Scotch

here's another short unimpressive bio:
Scotch was an Italo-disco group during the 1980s, consisting of members Vince Lancini (vocals) and Fabio Margutti (keyboards), joined by Franz Rome (keyboards, programming) for the second album Pictures Of Old Days.
The band had numerous hits, including Take Me Up, Mirage, Delirio Mind, Penguin's Invasion, Plus Plus and Money Runner. The group's single Disco Band (1985) was a major hit in Germany and was sampled on Scooter's 2007 hit single Lass Uns Tanzen, and their song Penguin's Invasion continues to be popular, appearing on various Italo-disco compilations and retrospectives.

and now something from the 90's

95 to be exact

One little Indian - Little Indian (buckwild remix)
an acapella version would sound dope non?
Holy fresh mangoes i found one!

Having a pint with a prophet

On a related note ( read post below)
I feel i must impart on the world some wise words that were told to me by a prophet.
A wise Trinidadian i met in a bar some years ago (foufons electric)
at the time i was going through a painful break up. After a couple mugs of dutch courage i began socializing with strangers.
one of these strangers was a pink tuq totting Carlyel Williams
We began rapping about the world and its contents.
He would constantly give props after everyone of his statements, there were many.
His laugh was infectious.
He had a large mouth full of big pearly white teeth. He looked like a lion when he laughed.
He said he was an artist with a degree at Concordia. He made music, music that to his ears sounded like a cross between Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix.
His Myspace describes his music and art as:
" original genres of Art and Music, which he calls Eternal Art and Music. Eternal Music is the sum total of the past, present, and future of Music. It is Music created beyond Time and Space"
If this were true then it seems that i had stumbled upon quite the Human Being.
I was surprised that small objects did not gravitate around this intellectually massive man.
Unsurprisingly the fact that my heart was broken came up in conversation.
I confided in him, this strange black man i had just met, that i was feeling quite down in the dumps and i missed my former lover.
He looked straight into my eyes, his dark pools seemed to drown my very soul, he said:
"There are two things wrong with this world. 1: Terrorism and number 2: Sex with your ex."
He bellowed out a mirthy laughter and knocked my knuckles with his.
Wise words from a prophet?
He gave me his demo cd and melted into the crowd.
Those words of wisdom have stayed with me all these years, and will continue to until the end of my physical life.
you see i believe that their is a great metaphysical meaning behind that little 2 point sentence.
since that faithful night i have only seen Mr. Williams 2 other times, the first time was when i was thoroughly intoxicated and i tried and failed to draw out more impressive statements about the world and the second time i saw him ridding a bike downtown, wearing his signature smile and pink tuq.

I suggest you visit his myspace, listen to his music and read his poetry.

at first, and probably at last you will be thoroughly turned off by what this artist is expressing, i know i am, but what do i know. i am no prophet

here is my... favorite...? poem of his:

This is the story of an aware man called LORD, his wife named MERCY, and another
person called A-N-D ........we don't know if A-N-D is a man or a woman....
Who cares anyway.....

LORD came home one night...
Found Mercy with A-N-D in a Patch...
I tell you
She was not only 'bare bottom'
She was also.......Bare Snatch'

LORD said....MERCY......What's happening Honey?
She said.....
Well....I am here gathering Experience....
LORD said....'That makes good common sense...To Me...

Lord said,
Well , I don't have to get 'TIED UP' by Victorian Morality
Because ' I am the LORD, and I know, much better,
Than to take this 'Personally',
So push over, MERCY....Let's have a Threesone,...HONEY....

That's the end of this true story...
I swear they are all living together....And Happy.....
Signed..... LORD, A-N-D, MERCY....
Thank You --------Merci......MERCY....

I just want you to be the best human being you can be.

Never compromise your state of happiness
Make sure your reality is constantly improving
Improve someones reality
Never stop learning

Life is like a mountain trail;

As your hiking up this trail it's good to have different guides with you along this path. for one section of the journey you might have a bird expert who will point out all the awesome birds you would have missed without this guide. Another section of your life path maybe you might have a plant expert who will teach you all you need to know about those crazy plants. sometimes though, you must walk your path alone, with no distractions, so you can truly appreciate the serene quite beauty.

If your dating someone your not happy with and/or you are not learning from .. then what are you doing? wasting time, compromising your reality and your happiness.
lets face it; your not getting married before (hopefully) 28+++ so right now why don't you just enjoy the time you have with your special someone until it's time to move on and experience someone else.
experience is knowledge and knowledge is power, With great power you have so many more opportunities open for you.
Are we going to split hairs here?
people are fascinating. find out for yourself.
go through life like a buffet, after you have tried everything you will know with absolute certainty which dish you want eat for the rest of your life.
walking in the restaurant and going straight for the egg rolls is whack, you know it and i know it.
I just want you to be the best human being you can be.

I Hate Tiesto! and I'm no fan of mainstream housey/trance but this track is dope.

I WANT YOU TO GET MAD!

First you've got to get mad, you gotta say "I'm a human being Goddammit MY LIFE HAS VALUE!!!"

This is an excerpt from the 1976 movie " Network" I haven't seen the movie yet so i wont write anything about all i can say is it looks pretty radical:

Here's where you can watch the whole 2hr movie.. for freeeee : http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=216105531921215883&ei=9gleSoiTIqiErAKK5rQt&q=network%2C+1976&hl=en&dur=3

I downloaded this track the other day that incorporates the famous Network speech into it. It's at the beginning with some piano in the background. the song is pretty dope, although the later part of the song ( after the speech) can be so much better, with more bass and what not.. because i mean the speech is so intense and fills you with energy and bravado that your expecting your speakers top explode as soon as the last syllable of that speech drops.. unfortunately it isn't an intense as one would hope, nevertheless it's still a good song.

Get Mad - Herbdout

for some more intense energy infused tracks and mixes here's a link you should check out Dollop and Dlex these guys put out podcast on itunes every now and then. it's a hit or miss with these fellows but this weeks podcast is pretty dope, scratch that very dope... it's got me wiggling my mane as we speak. Trumpets and umpa lumpa's and surprisingly agile heavy bass ( cause fat people can't run) and MIA and House, not just any house but a seaside cliff house with drugs and dancing ( if you can't grasp the analogy or visualize the metaphor well shit man i guess your just not an urban achiever),.. ohhhh yaaaaa if that doesn't define a good summer mix i don't know what does.

I WANT YOU TO GET MAD!

Know any good Slave songs?

I ask my co-workers "know any good slave songs?" they don't.
Lucky i do.
I like to sing this as I'm shoveling crap out of the junk truck at work (1-800-got junk?)
it's therapeutic and makes work (especially shoveling) go by a lot quicker.. i suppose that's what the old slaves created the song for.

kudos to Bryan Sentes, English teacher at Dawson College for introducing me to this warm and painfully delicious, or deliciously painful track

Go Down Old Hannah - Texas Prison song

here's a video that is merely a shadow of the original:

On a side note i created a great white slaver name/character while i was at work singing Old Hannah (ironic and wrong i know but hilarious) "Wilkinson Louisiana the Third" proud owner of 50 Negros, half a dozen Apache and a regular at madam Monique's New Orleans brothel. He has a southern accent and a big fat belly and kinda looks like the colonel from KFC. "you goan pick that cotton ya hear? afterwads i gona get you a nice cold glass of my wife's lemon aid, yes sir and ya can take a break down by the old river" See he's a nice slaver.
